Mr Reid's Sports Report

Sports Day

On Friday, we had our 2020 Sports Day. It looked a little different this with no parents or spectators but the weather turned it on and a good day was had by all. Thanks to all staff and students for making it a great day. The support is always appreciated. A Sports Day 2020 video will emerge on our Facebook page in the coming days.

Congratulations to Wirrikuta (Blue) for winning our 2020 West Beach Primary Sports Day. Yakanthi (Green) came in 2nd, Padminthi (Yellow) in 3rd, Mukanthi (Red) in 4th. Congratulations to all teams.

On Friday, the 17th of September, all students participated in Sports day. The aim for this day is to encourage kids to do sports and have fun while doing it. This year, unfortunately, parents could not come due to covid-19. Therefore, the students and teachers had to make the spirit and noise themselves. While the music was pumping, each class was going to their station, some crowd even grew around the gate. All the points were coming in as well, 4 points for 1st, 3 points for 2nd, 2 points for 3rd, and 1 point for last. This year, Mukanthi (red) was last, Pandminthi (yellow) was third, yankanthi (green) was second, and wirrkuta (blue) was first. This year’s sports day was so much fun and were all looking forward to it next year.

We did it!!!!!

Monday saw our West (Best) Beach boys take home the Year 6/7 Boys Premiership cup. We competed against a strong Thiele Primary School at Thebarton Oval. We played a strong, team first orientated football which saw us ran away winners by approximately 70 points. Congratulations to Jake Rooney who was our Best on Ground on the day. Our best players were Mike Williams, Josh Williams, Brayden McKenzie, Jack ‘The Postman’ Giancaspro, Archie Robertson, Lachy and Riley Martin. Too many players played well to name them all. Harvey Durant should also be acknowledged for his help on the day as our team manager. Thanks to all the parents who helped transport the boys over the past three rounds and who helped out throughout the competition. Special mention to Travis McKenzie for supporting the boys throughout all of our games. These types of events simply don’t happen without parent support.

Here it is.
