Teaching and Learning

Room 8

On Friday the 18th of September West Beach Primary School had Sports Day. All students from Room 8 thoroughly enjoyed each and every one of the events on the day; especially Long Bomb and High Jump. This fun filled day would not have been possible without Mr Reid’s excellent organisation and the hard work from the house captains; for that we say a massive thank you! By the end of the day the points were so close, but overall it was Wirrikuta that took home the winning cup. Congratulations Wirrikuta!

The students were asked to write a recount of Sports Day and here are some of the sizzling starts they came up with:

“ Woo hoo! It’s finally Sports Day!!! Yooo I can’t wait until the race starts!” said Mishika excitedly.  – Mishika Tripathi

“Neeeew people zooming in the 100 metre run! I was second! – Karas Bekeit

“Go, go, go! Everyone cheered for their team to win the sprints and all of the other fun games that we played. – Dante Holton

“Mr Mulree blew the whistle and go we were off” – Sophie Koldenhof

Kind regards,

Did you know that every Sports Day we include a Japanese themed event?

Each year the Junior Primary students test out their chopstick skills with the ‘Chopstick Relay’. Lots of fun and plenty of lolly snakes flying around!

This year the Primary students tried a new traditional Japanese Sports Day event,  ‘Eye of the Typhoon’. In Japan, this relay would have been run with bamboo poles, but we improvised and used pool noodles! This event required lots of teamwork and stamina but was fun to try out 😊

Science News

We had a very special guest visiting West Beach Primary School for Science in the past two weeks. He was a sweet, fluffy and furry friend named Flopsy who was a rabbit. He was on loan from the Nature Education Centre and all classes were very happy to have met him. Flopsy would like to thank everybody for being so welcoming and friendly and for giving him lots of cuddles and pats. He will love to return sometime in the future because he loved his stay so much!
