MACC - Art with Sandra

Last Friday in Art

In week 7 of Art, the students were really fortunate to have Fleur Rendell come and visit. Fleur is an artist printmaker who lives locally and came to teach the students how to print. We thank Fleur for coming in and visiting, the students really loved the classes. Here are some thoughts and pictures from our students on the day.

Fleur Rendell came to Moyhu Primary School to teach us about Lino printing. Edi Upper came too.  Fleur Rendell is a famous artist known for her Lino printing. Fleur showed some of her recent work, and they were amazing! She also has a lot of expeditions. She has two children. Usually she’d use a piece of hard lino, but we used a softer, more rubbery type of lino. We had to sketch out ideas onto a piece of paper, We got our piece of square Lino and chose an idea that we’d use. We used tools that were V shaped. Fleur gave an example of what we were doing. The two schools got to do around two prints on their piece of lino. Lots of kids from Edi were being very creative and some of them did prints like Owls, Castles, Mountains, Rivers and many other things. Everyone in Moyhu got pretty creative too, they did prints like turtles, peacocks, chairs, sea life and other things. Fleur said that everyone did so well and that we should all become artists when we’re older but nearly everyone refused. In the end, fleur said that everyone did well and that he loved how everyone was so creative and cooperative. By Maddison

Fleur Rendell and Edi Upper came to Moyhu Primary School to do printing. First we had to do a sketch then we had to do our sketch on a piece of foam. Next we had to put paint on the foam. We had to get a piece of paper and put the piece of paper on  the foam. It was fun because we got to do our own designs. My design was a house with trees and grass. The design colour for mine was dake blue. By Emmy

Edi upper came to Moyhu Primary School to see Fleur and to do printing with us. Fleur Rendell is an artist who came to teach us how to make prints using ink, rollers and paint. First we sketched a picture on a piece of paper. Once we thought we were done we would show Fleur and she would give us some tips to make it better. Then we could roll the paint on a piece of foam and put the painted foam onto a piece of blank paper to make our prints. I was very happy that we got the opportunity to work with Fleur. By Julukbia

In art we did printing with Fleur. Edi came to print with Moyhu. Printing is where you use a pencil to carve a picture into some foam then you get a roller with colour on it and paint the foam using the roller. Next, you press the painted foam onto a piece of paper to make your print. My first print was a turtle. I coloured 6 of the Turtles blue then I did 6 more Turtles red. Sandra gave Edi and Moyhu students a drawing book. It helps to make a face or a head or a body and arms and legs. I made lots of silly ones. I tried to make a school and some of mine were happy and some of them were mad. We had to pack up all the paper. I put 5 of my art creations in the bin but i kept my best turtle.  By Jackson

In art we made foam prints. I made a house and a rabbit. We put paint on the foam and got a piece of paper then put the paper on the foam and rub it so the picture was on the paper. I enjoyed it because it was fun.  By Jasmine

I  hopped on the bus. I was so excited because Fleur Rendell was coming to teach us printing. She has done expeditions and when she told us what we were doing I was so excited. Printing is one of my favourite things to do in art. I had no idea for what I should draw. I got my pencil and started. I drew a turtle on the front and on the back I did a peacock. I liked the peacock better so that’s the one I chose. Fleur started and showed us how to put the ink on to our art with a roller. You had to do lots of layers so when you put it on a piece of paper it works. We had to use a barren to smooth it onto the piece of paper. Mine worked and it looks really good. After when we were done I said a big thank you to her.
