Library News

 Library News

I hope you have all been doing well through learning and teaching from home.

We have had a lot of new resources in the library both print, eBooks and eAudiobooks.

As accessing print resources from our library is difficult at this stage I have focused on adding content to our eCollections.

Library website:

The Library website can now be accessed directly from the student portal page on the JMSS website.

Click through our website to keep track of all things library including news and resources: Direct link to site here

You can also use the book suggestion request form for ideas for your next read: link here to book request form

While we work and study from home, you can make requests and I will suggest resources from our eBook collections for you to borrow.

Overdrive eBooks

Our eBooks platform has been upgraded! Overdrive now use a platform called ‘Sora’ which is a user-friendly interface to guide you as you browse eBooks and eAudiobooks in our collection.

The interface may look a little different but still contains all previous resources as well as new titles as part of a consortium subscription.

Remember that eAudiobooks are a great way to give your eyes a rest and even allow you to do something else as you listen!

Have a look at the new eBook platform and you could find lots of new titles to spark your interest.

I have recently added to our eBook collection and we have new online Graphic Novel titles, the image below shows you some of the new titles in our collection. Graphic Novels can be a great way to unwind. You can link to our eBooks by using the link on the student portal- image below:

Issues in Society:

We have some new titles in our Issues in Society collection.

These can be accessed online through the Issues in Society webpage where you can browse the collection by cover and by topic. Here are direct links to .pdf access for our most recent additions:

August Book Review:Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng

Celeste Ng is a great author to watch and her recent book ‘Little Fires Everywhere’ has recently been adapted into a miniseries. It is a great idea to read the book before watching the miniseries with Kerry Washington and Reece Witherspoon in the main roles. This book is ultimately about a mother and daughter moving to a small town, trying to restart their lives there. Social and family issues are tackled in this book through the viewpoints of different characters as their stories collide and the reader is taken along on a journey of discovery.
