Secondary Music

Using Music to Relax

Listening to and making music is known to have a variety of positive effects on mood and mental health. Making music a part of your everyday relaxation routine can have many benefits such as;

FOCUS: Classical music for instance, has a tempo of 60 beats per minute, which increases the efficiency of the brain in processing information.

CREATIVITY: Listening to or making music allows the brain to think creatively and improve mood (there’s so many music making apps!)

RELAXATION: Choosing the right kind of music will assist with relaxation like Instrumental Harp music, nature sounds, and worship music.

MOTIVATION: Listening to their favourite kind of music can be an excellent motivational force and make it easier for students to get started with their work (or do their chores!)

INSPIRATION: Listening to the words of songs which inspire, encourage, tell stories and praise and worship music. (Be sure to listen to positive music when you’re feeling negative)
