Primary News

Student Enrichment Group

The Enrichment Group met on Monday 29 June. The junior primary students had fun programming the floor robots, ‘Bee Bots’ then made battery operated kits. The older students designed and constructed rubber band cars. We were able to discuss things like, the effect of wheel size, placement and length of the chassis on the speed or efficiency of the car.

French - Year 2

This term the Year 2 students have put their French to use in a meaningful way. They have been corresponding with our school’s sponsor child, Ramata. She is from Burkina Faso, in West Africa which is a French speaking country.

The Year 2 class enthusiastically translated Ramata’s letters with me and responded in French.

Some of the communication in French has included:

‘We have been praying for your Grandma.’

‘Here is a picture of a red doll that you wanted.’

‘We are in Winter now, what is the weather like there?’

‘We like hearing about your life in Burkina Faso.’

‘Thank you for being our friend. We are your friend too.’

The money raised on Casual Clothes Days goes towards supporting Ramata with her education and basic needs, so we hope you enjoy donating knowing that it is making a difference.

Maybe you would like to look at same facts at home about Burkina Faso?

Dieu te benisse, (God Bless you),

Madame Williams and the Year 2 class.

Outstanding Student Work

Congratulations to Kadance Chamberlain and Noah Dalton on having their Design & Technology work recognised this week for Excellence. Keep up the great work.

Design & Technology - Year 1/2 Class

In Design & Technology this term our student teacher Miss Kneebone gave the students the opportunity to create designed solutions through play.  Over the last 4 weeks we have explored making fidget spinners, tall towers with a set amount of equipment, marble mazes and lastly, a marble drop. Designs were required before any materials could be collected and modifications were made and explained. We had an enormous amount of fun while learning all sorts of skills like perseverence.
