What is the subject about?
Unit 3&4 Legal Studies examines the institutions and processes of the courts and parliament and the Australian Constitution. Students learn about criminal and civil law and evaluate the ability of legal system to provide justice. Students examine the Australian Constitution and how it provides a check on parliaments law-making powers and protects rights. Finally, students learn how laws are made through the Australian parliament and the courts and how law-making is influenced by individuals.

- Apply legal principles to actual and hypothetical situations
- Analyse the ability of the legal system to achieve justice system

- Understand legal rights and responsibilities, and the effectiveness of the protection of rights in Australia
