College Open Day - Tuesday 24th May

Reconciliation Week 2022

National Reconciliation Week is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.

The dates are 27th May to 3rd June 2022. These dates commemorate two significant milestones in the Reconciliation journey - the successful 1967 Referendum and the High Court Mabo decision respectively.

Reconciliation must live in the hearts, minds and actions of all Australians as we move forward, creating a nation strengthened by respectful relationships between the wider Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Reconciliation Australia’s theme for 2022, Be Brave, Make Change, is a challenge to all Australians - individuals, families, communities, organisations and government - to Be Brave and tackle the unfinished business of reconciliation so we can Make Change for the benefit of all Australians.

We all have a role to play when it comes to Reconciliation, and in playing our part we collectively build relationships and communities that value Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories, cultures, and futures.

Sorry Day Mass and FIRE Carrier Commissioning

Our College will hold a National Sorry Day Mass on Thursday 26th May and we would love for our parents and caregivers to join us for this event. There will be a smoking ceremony by a traditional owner held as we all enter the Brigidine Centre and a Sea of Hands display in support of all First Nations people beside the Church. Bishop Shane Mackinlay will celebrate the Mass and there are many students involved. We will commission a large number of new FIRE Carrier students. Please join us and aim to be seated by 9.15am.

Purple Day for The Gift

On Friday 10th June, all members of our community are invited to dress in purple to raise money and awareness for the local organisation 'The Gift.'

The Gift is an organisation based in Kyabram that exists with the sole aim of providing assistance for locals with cancer. Locals being anyone from our district - Kyabram, Stanhope, Rushworth, Girgarre, Tongala, Lancaster etc. The Gift has existed for many years and takes pride in the fact that they have raised over $625,000 to support locals with cancer. Help is provided to recipients by way of The Gift paying for groceries, travel to treatment related appointments, utility bills; basically anything deemed a necessity.

The annual Purple Weekend is seen as a major fundraiser to help continue raising money for local people going through a cancer journey. Due to Covid, fundraising efforts over the past few years have been quite difficult, so everyone’s support would be greatly appreciated.

We have a Whole College Assembly on this day and would love to see a sea of purple in our Brigidine Centre raising funds and awareness for the work of The Gift.

Don't forget your gold coin donation.

Start planning your purple outfit for the day!

Richmond Emerging Aboriginal Leaders (REAL)

On Wednesday 4th March, our Years 7-12 Indigenous students were invited to attend a Richmond Emerging Aboriginal Leaders (REAL) school program run by Korin Gamadji Institute (KGI).

Lucas, Lily-May and Tyler, all Year 7 students, attended the session at Kyabram P-12 College.

Brady Cooper and Luke Murray introduced the three key pillars of the program: leadership, social and emotional wellbeing and culture.

During the session, students practised the skills of leadership and identified what makes a good leader.

It was a great session and the students were very happy with their merchandise.
