A Word from the Principal

A warm welcome to our community

The term has started very quickly and we have had to ‘hit the ground running’.  Once again, term 4 is shaping up to be extremely busy.

WHPS Camping Program- Year 1 Late Stay

We had a very excited group of year 1’s stay late last Thursday night at school as a part of the camping program.  It was wonderful to nearly every year 1 student attend and join in the fun while preparing for sleep over  next year.  I would like to thank Miss Turner, Mrs Michalski and Miss Davis for their organisation of the night.  Loads of fun had by all!  Make sure you take a look at all the photos on Facebook

Parent Opinion Survey Result

The online parent survey has produced very positive results for Weeden Heights PS.  This year there were 32 responses from the survey sent out to 120 families.     The overview of parent results are below:

The areas measured in the survey are:

Community Engagement in Learning, Excellence in Teaching and Learning and Positive Climate for Learning.  These areas do align with the Attitudes to School Survey completed by the students.

We are very pleased with the ongoing support of our community and it is wonderful to see that the parent survey results are beginning to move towards matching the students’ and teachers’ survey results.    As a school, we are always working on improving what we are doing and this year shows us that improvement.

Thank-you to the parents that also speak with our school council members when you see them out and about.  Your voice is present at our meetings.  We do most appreciate your positive feedback, suggestions and items to consider or review.  It was also great to hear from our parents during the school review.

2020 Parent Contributions

We have finalised parent contribution documents and they will be available for distribution to our families soon.  There are some slight changes to costing but in line with the increases in the students supplies purchased.   The document will be distributed to families with information and payment details in the coming weeks.

Staff Car Park

Please remember that our staff car park is for staff only.  It is not a place for parents to pick up and drop off students because it is dangerous.  Staff are entering and exiting at all different times and the drive way has a blind curve which is an issue.  I have also seen parents walking their children through the car park and it is an out of bounds area.   Parents who are dropping off early on a Friday morning for Chess Club also need to use the street parking and walk your children into school. We would really appreciate that you follow the school rules so that your children are safe at all times.

Curriculum Day - 4 November and Cup Day - 5 November

Next week there is a curriculum day on Monday and a public holiday on Tuesday for Cup Day.  Students are not required to attend school on either of those days.

On Monday staff will be completing more work around  PLC’s (Professional Learning Communities) as a part of our ongoing work and will get some time to work on student  assessments.  We hope that you enjoy the Tuesday with your family!

Until next time,

Ms Kylie Campbell

Principal
