Mount Alvernia College Principal Recruitment

Following Dr Kerrie Tuite’s announcement of her intention to conclude her term as Principal of Mount Alvernia College at the end of the 2020 school year, we are pleased to confirm that work towards recruitment and appointment of the next Principal has begun.  Below we share a brief outline of the process.

The College Board would firstly like to assure our community that selection and support of the Principal is one of the most important roles of a governing body, and a responsibility taken very seriously.   We are keen to ensure a comprehensive and discerning process to identify the very best person to be our next Principal.

We have established a subcommittee of Michael O’Brien, Therese Miller, and Liam Casey, who will be informed by the Franciscan values of love, compassion, simplicity, peace, joy, trust in God, respect, and service, and operate within the framework of Mercy Partners.

Additionally, we have employed Catherine Jackson, a consultant with an extensive background in Catholic education and leadership, to facilitate the process, engaging with stakeholders and potential applicants.

Consultation meetings with various stakeholder groups will occur over the coming months, seeking to access the broad wisdom of the community in looking forward to the future of the College and the opportunities and challenges for the new Principal.  The stakeholder consultations will include focus groups and interviews with our Franciscan community - students, staff, college leaders, and parents.

Additionally, all members of the community have the opportunity to share some input and be a part of this consultation, via a brief online survey.  If you would like to engage with this option, please access this link by 20 April.

National advertising will commence around Easter, with a view to an appointment and announcement mid-year, enabling the new Principal to have a comprehensive induction and handover with Dr Tuite.

Mount Alvernia College has a proud and long tradition of educating young women in the Franciscan values, and we are seeking a leader who will continue the great work done by Dr Tuite and those before her.  We know you will join with us in praying for the Board and all those involved in the process, and we look forward to sharing news in due course.
