Frequently Asked Questions

Hopefully some of your questions may be answered here.  If you have a question that is not listed, email Mr Butts and he will answer it!

Q:  Is there any chance kids will be coming to school on the first day of term 2?

A:  Although there is no official decision made yet, it is highly unlikely that students will be returning to school immediately after Easter.

Q:  Who do I contact if I am having difficulty accessing the online learning material after Easter?

A:  Please email Ms Carroll for help:  acarroll@smmooroopna.catholic.edu.au

Q:   If home schooling occurs in Term 2, will the school provide student supervision at school for working parents?

A: Nothing has been confirmed yet regarding supervising children school when Term 2 begins.  It is a possibility however and if this is the case I'll be letting parents know as soon as this is communicated.

Q:  How long each day is my child should my child be doing schoolwork during Home Schooling?

A:  This will vary from child to child, however students will be required to follow the daily timetable set by the teachers.  Obviously this won't occupy them every minute from 8:50am - 3:20pm, but they will be busy none the less!

Q:  What if my child won't be available to join a "virtual lesson" at a particular time?

A:  There will be a variety of different options if this is the case.  Many lessons will be pre recorded and teachers discussion sessions can be requested on Google Classrooms.

Q:  What if the work is too hard for my child and I don't know how to assist them?

A:  Use the messaging platform on Google Classrooms or email the teacher directly.

Q:  Won't sitting in front of a computer all day be bad for my child's health?

A:  Absolutely!  Our teachers have planned daily timetables that involve online work as well as a combination of activities that can be done around the house and plenty of exercise!

Q:  I am a shift worker and would like to assist my child with their work at times different to the timetable!

A:  Ideally we would like students to work as closely to the daily timetables set, but we understand the importance for the work to be flexible and that some children will be studying at different times.

Q:  How are we going to keep the kids entertained when they're stuck at home for so long?

A:  We've got some creative parents out there, we'll share some ideas and maybe we'll have a weekly parents competition for the best activity!
