Year 7 Update

Knowing me knowing you:

written by Molly from Year 7 Home Group K73

Knowing me knowing you was an activity the Year 7's participated in on their first week at EMC. For each class the students would create a poster that would be displayed to the other Year 7's on a gallery walk. This gallery walk took place on the last day of the week. All students posters looked amazing and each work piece was displayed containing a different THRIVE value. One of my favorite things about the gallery walk was seeing all the brilliant drawings. Some of them were absolute amazing.

The activities every Year 7 did for each subject were:

English- a poster on all the THRIVE qualities and how they have displayed them and a letter from their future self.

Maths- a poster containing math problem about themselves e.g. I have 2 + 1 pets = 3. Science-students were partnered up in pairs and had to create a poster on an egg that they had to take care of. My egg was named Ronald but there were so many of other creative names.

Cooking- each student filled out a BE HEALTHY sheet where we brainstormed many ways we can be healthy, what healthy means to us, making healthy decisions and eating healthy.

Humanities- we researched about Dame Elisabeth Murdoch including her achievements, family charities she supported and what she did for her local community.

Sport-Health- we created a lunch box containing things that were on a poster where we went around the school to find. There were fruit and veggies as well as water. We chose our favourites and added them into our healthy lunchbox.

I loved the knowing me knowing you topic. I got to learn so much about my peers in my class and the other year 7's and I can't wait to find out more about my friends in the future.
