An Overview of our Learning

2020 was not the year any of us planned for. We were so lucky to have an amazing group of Year 1 students and families who were flexible, resilient and so supportive while we got through it all together. 2020 certainly has been a year that we never predicted. From restrictions to lockdown and Remote Learning, it is a year no one will forget. We have been so fortunate to have all the students back on site for their final term of Year 1.  

Students have been completing lots of different activities and lessons, and having meaningful discussions promoting mental health and wellbeing. Highlights from this term include completing all InitiaLit lessons for the year, learning about the water cycle and how we use water at school, measuring items in the school using dinosaur footprints, completing various literacy rotations, dressing up for crazy hair and crazy sock day, filming the Christmas concert, making a cotton ball snowman, searching for the Elf on the Shelf everyday, learning their Year 2 teachers, going to transition sessions, having end of year celebrations and so much more! 

It is our hope that 2021 is a ‘normal year’ for everyone as we farewell these amazing students into Year 2. Miss Kelly (formally Mrs. McQueen) and Miss Tilley have loved teaching your children and we can’t wait to see them learn and grow in Year 2.

I wanted to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to all the amazing members of the Upwey South Primary School community. 

I am so grateful to live and work in the presence of such kindness and support. I am looking forward to returning to the classroom and having a chance to see all my beautiful 2020, 1A students.

I would like to thank everyone for their well wishes, thoughtful words and support. I cannot thank Bec Tilley, Julie Hall, Stacey Bowles and Thais Iskander enough for taking care of my students in my absence. 

I have deeply appreciated the emails passed onto me by Damien and feel a great sense of genuine care within this school. All the teachers, staff and parents at Upwey have been so compassionate, I am truly grateful!

It has been shared with me that despite my absence, each young person in 1A have continued to demonstrate our school values. I have missed each and every one of these remarkable students. To know that they have continued to be kind, respectful and uphold our school values makes me so happy. The students of 1A are all incredible little beings and I have cherished every moment with them. 

I wish all my wonderful students and their families a safe and happy Christmas and New Year!

Principal Learning Award

On Friday 4th December we were lucky enough to present Lillian O from 1A and Isla S from 1B with their Principal Learning Award from Term One. Congratulations to both students!
