Principal's Message

Dear Parents/Carers,

‘Empowering students for learning and life’

Year 12 Students

Our Year 12 students are in the final stretch of their Year 12 school year, with final school based assessments occurring and preparation for their final exams.  Year 12 parents will be receiving another progress report which summarises their student’s attendance, progress to date and timely submission of work.  Mr. Anthony Brannan and I will be reviewing these reports and will continue to meet with students and invite parents in as required.  We have met with many students to date and have had very positive conversations with our students. To support our students in maximising their class time working with their teachers, we will conducting the Indicative Exam during the first three days of the September school holidays – from Monday 23rd of September to Wednesday 25th inclusive.  We will continue to support and have high expectations of all our students and encourage them to do their best in achieving their own personal goals.

Engaging with our Community

Cranbourne Homes Banner Competition 2019

Once again, our talented Visual Art students have been asked to design the Cranbourne Home Hanging Banners.  The finalists will be on display on the Cranbourne Home Facebook page where our community will be encouraged to vote for their favourite.  The Top 10 student’s art work with the most likes will be reproduced into posters and banners in centre. The deadline to submit an entry is Friday 13th September.  Good Luck to all participants.

Performing Arts

4C's

On Tuesday August 20th our students once again participated in 4C's.  4C's stands for Cultivating Creative Cultures within Communities and is an event celebrating Pasifika culture through dance and performances. The students have worked hard this semester, attending rehearsals preparing for their performance.

I would like to thank Ms. Melissa Belias for her dedication and hard work in supporting these students as they prepared for the 4C's event.  It was a great night and our students proudly represented our College.  Congratulations to all on a wonderful performance.

Wakakirri

On Friday 23rd  of August, Lyndhurst Secondary College students performed at the Frankston Art Centre after months of rehearsals and preparation.  They created a showpiece outlining Rose’s peculiar adventure.    It was a great performance, showcasing many of our students’ wonderful talents.

I would like to congratulate all our participants for their hard work and on their great performance on the night.  I would particularly like to acknowledge the work done by Ms Claire De Niese and Ms Lauren Shaw, supporting our students in preparing for their performance.

Le Mana Pasifika Program

Our Le Mana Pasifika students in years 7 – 10 took part in a Leadership Program to develop their skills in public speaking, connectedness to culture and connectedness to the school community.   At the end of the 10 week program the students put on a presentation for parents, staff and members of the community.  I was so proud to see the final presentation and the students demonstrating the wonderful skills they had developed during the Le Mana program.  A special thanks to CMY leaders Paroa Te Paki and Temese Leilua who ran and led the program.  They did a wonderful job working with our students and providing them with this unique opportunity.

Connecting with Universities and Casey Tech

Our Year 8 and 9 ACE students have had an opportunity to attend Monash University to experience what Uni life is like.  They participated in the universities ‘makerspace’ program, exploring current technology and a group got to go around the university undertaking an “Amazing Race” experience.  In addition to this, we had Melbourne University Science students visit our College and ran special Science classes to engage our students and demonstrate possible future pathways.

Our Year 10 students through their STEM program have visited Casey Tech School working with the experts in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.  Some great opportunities for our students.  I would like to thank Sue Carroll for working tirelessly in organising the work with the Universities and Daniel Rogers for linking our STEM program with Casey Tech.
