Principal's Report

Dear Parents, Families and Community members,

Lightning Premiership Summer Sports Grades 5-6

Last Friday all grade 5/6 children headed out of school to compete in the summer lightning premiership. We sent the children to 3 different venues to compete in 3 different sports of basketball, teeball and volleystars.

The reports back from the teachers at all events were fantastic. Our children represented the school beautifully showing all 3 values of care collaboration and commitment.

Our basketballers had a tough day against some fantastic opposition but all children tried their absolute best all day. A huge thank you to both the teachers and parents Kerry Harris and Brodie Marston that helped coach the children on the day.

Our Teeballers and volleystars players both had a couple of wins throughout their day and worked well with their team mates. Thank you to all parents and staff that helped at those events.  We received some fabulous feedback from one of our parent helpers Kerry H about our basketball teams and Kerry has asked we share this with the community:

"I had the pleasure of supporting the A team girls at this event.  I was blown away by the girl's Commitment, Collaboration and sportsmanship on the day.  These young ladies are an absolute credit to both their school and their families for their outstanding attitude on the day.  None of these girls had played in a team/basketball before; and yet, when they were not getting any scores on the board they were cheerful, kept trying and were having fun.   At each game, both parents and staff from the other schools were able to identify that our girls had not played before and were trying really hard to get the hang of the game.  By the end of the fourth game, the other teams parent's and school staff were cheering our girls on for both their attitude to the game and the massive improvements they had made over the course of the day.

They certainly were the "A" team - Molly, Charlie, Maddie, Kiarah and Avneet.  Each girl watched the opposing team carefully, and shared their observations with their team members.  They took this information on board to improve their game, and by the end of the day, they had some scores on the board.  It was truly an amazing process."

Well done students, you played your hearts out and represented our school with such amazing spirit!

Camp Wyuna - Grade 3-4

A full wrap up from camp will be available in next weeks' newsletter, but here are some photos showing the amazing experiences had by both students and staff!

House Cross Country - 4/4/19

Please see the next page for all the details on our House Cross Country, and to see the course maps.

Parking / Pedestrian Crossing

It has been brought to my attention by a number of community members that some drivers continue to park in bike lanes and very close to the crossing which restricts visibility and causes a safety concern.

I urge all families to ensure that they are adhering to road safety laws and are considerate of ensuring that our students and community members are able to travel to and from school in the safest possible way.

Our new School Council have discussed the issue of a supervised crossing and are in the process of generating further action towards improving this situation.

Thank you for your support in this matter.

School Council

We held our AGM and School Council meeting on Tuesday this week.  We thanked our past members for their contributions to School Council in 2018 and warmly welcomed our 2019 councillors.  The Annual Report for 2018 was presented and discussed and our 2019 office bearers elected.

Congratulations to:

President:   Janelle Levy

Vice President: Amie Ramos

Treasurer:  Jason Lardelli

We look forward to a productive and positive year on council!

Classroom Helpers

At Armstrong Creek School we value the contribution of all members of the community in supporting our students to learn.

Now that we have settled in to the year, we would like to invite members of our student's immediate family who may be interested in helping out in the learning communities to attend a 1 hour Classroom Helpers Induction Session.

This session will take place here at school in the teacher resource room on Wednesday the 3rd of April from 10am to 11am.

We do ask that any person wishing to help out in the learning communities take part in the session in order to be best prepared for working with our students. A current Working With Children Check is also required.

If you would like to participate, please complete the form via the link below to indicate your interest and attendance.

Those who completed the session last year are not required to do so again this year, however, please let the office know if you would like to to assist in the Learning communities  during 2019.
