Holy Week and Easter

The most important events that the Church celebrates are the death of Jesus on Good Friday and His rising from the dead, on Easter Sunday. It was because of what because of what Jesus did on these two days that we have new life. Jesus gave His whole life for us, even dying on a cross to show us the forgiveness of God and to bring us a new life free from sin. We prepare to celebrate the joy of Easter during the season of Lent.

The Scriptures tell us three days after they had watched Him die, Jesus appeared to His followers and talked, walked and ate food with them. Jesus had risen! Jesus really was alive again and this was good news for His disciples! The celebrations of Easter help us to wonder at the great mystery of the new life given to us by Jesus’ life, death and resurrection. (KWL, bk3 p.38-9)

Message from Pope Francis

Pope Francis celebrated Mass March 12, 2020, in the chapel of his Vatican residence. At the beginning of the liturgy, the pope encouraged people to pray for their government leaders, who must make difficult decisions to contain the coronavirus pandemic. "Let us keep praying together for the ill, their relatives, for parents with children at home, but most of all I would ask that you pray for authorities," the pope said at the beginning of the Mass March 12.

(Copied from the Caherconlish Caherline Parish)

So beautiful from Pope Francis:

Tonight before falling asleep think about when we will return to the street.

When we hug again when all the shopping together will seem like a party.

Let's think about when the coffees will return to the bar, the small talk, the photos close to each other.

We think about when it will be all a memory but normality will seem an unexpected and beautiful gift.

We will love everything that has so far seemed futile to us.

Every second will be precious.

Swims at the sea, the sun until late, sunsets, toasts, laughter.

We will go back to laughing together.

Strength and courage.
