Principal's Report

Safety at school pick-up

I would like to ask that parents and students are mindful of safe practices at school pick up. To ensure that students have a safe pathway from the school to vehicles and home I would ask that parents stand on the grass on either side of the path and leave the footpath free for pedestrians. This will minimise the risk of accidents and/or students needing to walk on the road.

I would also ask that parents take care when parking vehicles and look to maximise the available space to ensure more vehicles can fit on Pudman Street near the parent pick up gate.

Peta Proudford / Mem Brougham

Kindergarten families received information from the school on Monday to notify them that Mrs Peta Proudford will be taking leave for the remainder of the year. She plans to spend more time helping on the family farm.

Ms Mem Brougham, who has been teaching Kindergarten two days a week this semester, will now teach Kindergarten in a full-time capacity for the rest of the year. I am excited to welcome Mem five days a week as the Kindergarten teacher and also as the relieving Assistant Principal of Infants.

I would like to wish Peta well for the next six months and hope that she enjoys her time away from teaching.

New enrolments

I am excited to welcome ten new enrolments to our school this week and early next term. The students are predominantly in Infants and Primary with a new Year 9 student starting this week.

This influx of enrolments takes our total enrolments up to 225 from Kindergarten to Year 12  and represents a 20% increase in enrolments in the past 12 months!

External Validation

The staff and I have finished assessing our school against the School Excellence Framework and this evidence was submitted last week. I will be meeting with an external validation panel in Week 1 of Term 3 to discuss our self-assessment and to receive recommendations on how to continue to improve our practices. I will be tabling our submission and the recommendations at the next P&C meeting in August.

End of a big term

As Term 2 draws to an end I would like this opportunity to thank all of the staff, students and parents of Boorowa Central School for another wonderful term. Every time I have the opportunity to enter a classroom, play in the playground or chat with parents I am reminded of how lucky we all are to have such a great school and community.

I sincerely hope you all have a safe and relaxing school holiday with your loved ones. I plan on switching off from work completely to build a billy cart with the kids and to play lots of golf.

Until next term, this is Graham Jones signing off.
