Visual Arts News

Mrs Duncan’s Visual artists have had a full semester with a plethora of activities and colourful fun. We have had some successful experimentation and excited planning and chatter in our new art club aka ‘Artrageous’.

Year 7 have been working steadily and successfully on their own self portraits and Year 8 on one and two point perspective designs. Year 10 has been studying War landscapes and portraits and have used this knowledge to design a contemplative painting on War versus Peace.

Recently, Year 10, 11 and 12 attended the Griffith Regional Art Gallery to view the prestigious Archibald prize. If you did not know; this is a collection of portraits entered into a Australian competition. This is the third time that the Gallery has displayed the Archibald paintings in the history of the competition which commenced in 1921.

Well done to all the students that applied themselves to their Art this semester. Farewell for now to our semester 1, Year 7 and 8 classes. We look forward to meeting our new Year 7 and 8 classes in semester two.

Happy holidays

Mrs Duncan
