Principal News

Dear God,

We pray for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Communities

and all cultural communities:

that God’s Spirit of reconciliation will live in their hearts and minds and help them to embrace the diversity that makes for a richer country and stronger Church.

Lord, hear us.

In the Name of the Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit,

Amen

Dear Parents, Students and Friends,

Today the College celebrated 2021 NAIDOC Week with a special assembly. This year’s theme is Heal Country and we welcomed performers and guest speakers from the local Wiradjuri Community as well as staff member Mr James Buckland, from the Biripi Nation, centred around mid north coast , NSW. James told his personal journey as an aboriginal man. It was very moving. The assembly was recorded on the College Facebook site. My thanks to  College Aboriginal School and Community Worker Loreli Wray, Pastoral Care Worker Sanita Lole and Acting Leader of Mission Mr Abdala for organising our assembly and Wiradjuri guests Aunty Dorothy Watts, Robert Watts, Ngiaran Williams, Vickie Simpson,  Zavian Williams and Ben Humphries.

Earlier in the week the College said farewell to Canteen worker, Mrs Elda Capello. Elda has worked as the Assistant and Supervisor for many years and improved  the canteen options for students and through sales the resources available for students to use. One major item funded has been the College bus. Thank you Elda for your work at Marian and best wishes for the future.

On the topic of staff, welcome to Marian Canteen Manager Jennifer Riley and Uniform Shop Supervisor Minnietta Serafin.

Over the holidays Sacred Heart Parish celebrates their Centenary. Best wishes to all involved in the anniversary and good luck for the La Festa being held on Sunday 11 July. Staff and students of Marian are helping out with arrangements on the day. Details are on the Sacred Heart Parish website.

Another busy term finishes, I wish to take the opportunity to thank students and staff for a successful term. Half way through 2021 already! Rest up and stay safe. Staff return for Professional Learning on Monday 12 July. Students return on Tuesday 13 July.

As the outbreak of Covid19 re-emerges in Sydney, please be aware of the changing situation as published by the NSW Government and follow all instructions. This will keep our community as safe as possible.
