Principal's Report

Portion One Completion

Two buildings completed

Troon have today, handed over Davey and Millie Buildings.  We can begin moving items across to the new site in readiness to begin operation in term three.

It has been frantic work, all hampered by the unfavorable weather, but thanks to Troon, they have handed over on the scheduled date.  Work continues on our Kim barne Nitje (gymnasium) and landscaping.

The VSBA relocatable team had site establishment yesterday and have commenced work on the vacant relocatables.  Their work will continue throughout the forthcoming holiday period and into term three.

Troon will also commence works on our current site during the holidays, refurbishing the Brady Building (current staff room and blue hall) as a new library and STEM room respectively.

Dundas Street has made recent progress and is close to fully re-opening.

There is a lot happening!  Please remain vigilant and connected to Sentral for communication around movements that will impact families and students.

Students can look forward to enjoying new parts of the school from day one of term three.

Student dangerous bike behaviours

It has been consistently and long noted, our middle and senior students who ride to school are frequently displaying dangerous behaviours.  Whilst we continue to work with and educate students at school, we ask for parent vigilance, discretion and support in imploring your own children to ride safely - every day.

Students have regularly displayed dangerous riding habits that not only endanger pedestrians of all ages, motorists and other footpath & road users, but also themselves. Too many near misses are reported to me, and I fear the day we have a serious injury or worse.  This includes the correct use of our three school crossings.

It is particularly important the parents of students who ride, educate their own child/ren around the correct use of bikes and getting safely to school.  This should be done after hours or on weekends with hands on and 'on the spot' training, to demonstrate expected behaviours.

Classroom moves

Classroom moves continue from next week, with teaching & learning disruptions kept to a minimum.  I will detail new classroom numbers and locations in next weeks newsletter, to ensure parent / carer information is accurate and assist in safe transitions at the beginning and end of each school day.

Reports

I hope you've all had an opportunity to sit with your child/ren by now, and read through their reports with them to celebrate their achievements.

Students led conferences are to follow in the latter part of term three.  If you have questions or require clarification of anything pertaining to your child's report, please make an appointment to see your teacher.

End of term

Next Friday 25 June is the end of term two.  Please note, end of school time for the final day is 2:30pm.  Please remember to be prompt for pick up.

Our OSHC service remains a fantastic and viable option each school day from 7am - 6pm, as well as offering a service to families across each day of the forthcoming holiday period. Please contact the office for further details and bookings.
