Classroom News

Junior Class - Mrs Creek

The Literacy focus this week has been again on ‘INFORMATION reports’.  We are showcasing some of these elements at Assembly this week.  We are also introducing a new ‘Allelujah’ song for the school to enjoy.  As information is given for a specific reason, that is ‘to inform’ or tell someone about something, my students realise how many times in the day they actually do that.  Of course, written information reports usually have more facts and details.  Mathematics includes subtraction, double facts and addition (counting on).  Our fun highlight for the week was the St. Patrick’s Olympic Celebrations.  Enjoy watching the videos and pictures with your children.

Middle Class - Miss Williams

This week the Middles have had a wonderful week full of fun and excitement. We have been enjoying working on our Olympics theme for the classroom and adding up tallies to medal charts. We had a lot of fun on Tuesday morning participating in the school Olympics and working in teams to get points. Ben had a wonderful win in the handicap race. Ben told me that as he looked over his shoulder he could see Thar Shue coming and he was worried he would get to the post first leaving Ben in second place. Luckily for Ben he had just enough energy left to power through to the finish line and get the gold. In maths we have begun looking at multiplication and division and how they are related and the Year 3’s have loved playing a game where they challenge each other to be the fastest to give me the multiplication fact. In writing we have been working on procedural texts and have been writing about how to make a pizza. We will have fun making them when we are all back at school together. In reading we have been reading about how to complete different sports that are in the Olympics and relating these back to the ones that we have seen on the TV in the last couple of weeks.

Little Joey

This week we continue to acknowledge the significant role of the "Brown Joeys" in the establishment of St Patrick's School, and recognised Nelson with a Little Joey award.  Our Little Joeys receive a certificate, sticker and a voucher/goods donated by a local business.  We are very grateful for the contributions from our local businesses.
