'Fridays for the Future' is a climate action gathering at 4pm on the fourth Friday of every month near the rotunda in Memorial Square, Colac. Our aim is to raise awareness within Colac Otway Shire and for those passing through, that climate change requires attention and action is needed now. We encourage young people and their parents to join us in this monthly action at 4pm, a time that is more accommodating for students. It’s a fun and effective way to gather and show people we care for Planet Earth. We also give out free plants to encourage biodiversity in backyards, and we have fresh produce to share, when we have it in abundance.

Kind regards Kate Lidgerwood,

On behalf of the Climate Action Team, acting in the Colac Otway Shire for

climate and biodiversity.

“If someone has not learned to stop and admire something beautiful, we should not be surprised if he or she treats everything as an object to be used and abused without scruple. If we want to bring about deep change, we need to realise that certain mindsets really do influence our behaviour. Our efforts at education will be inadequate and ineffectual unless we strive to promote a new way of thinking about human beings, life, society and our relationship with nature. Otherwise, the paradigm of consumerism will continue to advance, with the help of the media and highly effective workings

of the market”
