Lunch for 50? No problem!

The Year 12 VET Hospitality (Kitchen Operations) class have been cooking lunch for 50 – both at Bendigo TAFE and Castlemaine Secondary College.

On Thursday 25th August students prepared an amazing tasting plate for 50 lucky delegates at the Bendigo TAFE Conference.  Dishes prepared included homemade cauliflower and leek soup served with homemade foccacia bread, homemade Caesar salad, homemade pasta with homemade pesto, homemade crumbed chicken strips with homemade roasted capsicum sauce, homemade spring rolls and homemade arancini balls.  Yes – everything was ‘homemade’, even the mayonnaise – and the students did not cheat at any step of the way! What an achievement!

On Tuesday 30th August students prepared and served an Ethiopian lunch in the Etty Street Library, and also provided take-away lunches for staff at Castlemaine Secondary College and Campbells Creek Primary School.  Again, the food was made from fresh ingredients and authentic Ethiopian recipes were followed!

There are just two more functions to complete and then these Year 12 students will have finished the practical component of their VCE/VET course for 2016.  Congratulations to all involved!

Sandhurst Junior Basketball Tournament

On Thursday 1 September, three CSC teams competed in the Sandhurst Round Robin Basketball Tournament at the Bendigo Stadium. Our Year 7 boys and Year 8 girls teams both lost to the eventual overall champions, Catholic College, in their opening game, but then went on to record strong victories in their remaining three games against Weroona, East Loddon and Girton. The CSC Year 7 girls team also performed strongly throughout the day and finished with one win and two losses. Congratulations to all students who participated in the tournament and represented our school in an excellent manner.
