Travel Opportunities

Calling on all families of French students in Years 10 – 12 in 2017!

Are you in Year 9 – 11 right now?  Will you be doing French next year? How would you like to host a French student?

As part of our French exchange we host French students for 2 ½ weeks around the Easter holiday period. We always have more students visiting us from France than we have students visiting France and are therefore looking for more families to host French students during this time.

The French students will participate in home and school activities. The school will arrange a number of excursions for the French students, such as a trip down to Anglesea with a surfing lesson, a visit to Melbourne’s Eureka Sky deck and Queen Victoria market, Sovereign Hill and the Wildlife Park, amongst others. On other days they will go to school and participate in lessons with their host. At home they will be part of the family, do what you do whether it’s sport training, homework, trips on the weekend, visiting friends or just staying at home.

We would love to hear from you soon if you think you would like to host next year. Please contact me, Jane Macdonald (French Teacher, French exchange coordinator) on 5479 4222 or at macdonald.jane.j@edumail.vic.gov.au

Japan Trip 2017

Would you like to be part of a wonderful experience visiting Japan in 2017?

We are in the process of planning our next exciting trip to Japan for students in years 9 to 12.  The trip will be for ten days and include visits to Tokyo, Shizuoka, Kyoto and Osaka.  This will include a homestay at Shizuoka for roughly three days.

An information evening has been organised for Wednesday 26 October @ 7pm in the Wellbeing Centre.  For more information please contact the office at either campus.

Term 3 Outdoor Education News:‐

Term 3 has provided many opportunities for students to engage in Outdoor Experience. The year 12 VET Outdoor Recreation class started with a Bike Education teaching program with Harcourt Valley Primary School. Over three sessions students were taught some bike safety tips, road rules as well as some bike skills. We wish to thank Matt and his grade 5/6 class for their fantastic participation. On the 1st of August we had the annual whole school Mt Buller Ski Day. This was a fantastic day for beginners and advanced skiers, it was also great to see VCE students working with Year 7’s outside of the college environment, well done on the positive participation!

The Year 10 Steiner Outdoor and Environmental Studies class this year joined the Year 11 VET Outdoor Recreation class for a 2 night snow camping and snow shoeing experience at Mt Stirling and Mt Buller. Students learnt about the Alpine Environment at Mt Stirling and Mt Buller including some downhill skiing skills. Why the weather was a bit trying,  we did enjoy some really good fresh snow. The Year 12 Outdoor and Environmental Studies class combined with the Year 12 VET Outdoor Recreation class on a 3 – day ski tour at Mt Hotham. Students enjoyed learning to ski/board in some great blue sky sunny weather. Students also learnt about sustainability in the resort and about working in the resort industry. This trip was enjoyed by all students and will sadly be their last camp with CSC. I look forward to some more great experiences in the wilderness in term 4!

Thanks to all the staff, students and parents for your ongoing support in our programs!
