Welcome Year 7

Warm Welcome

A very warm elcome to our new Year 7 students!  We are all so excited to have you with us at Fairhills High School, and are looking forward to getting to know you.

Coming into high school from primary school can be a scary experience for students and parents alike.  At Fairhills we strive to make this experience as seamless as possible.

We understand how important it is for our new Year 7s to feel connected to the school community.  A sense of belonging is vital to each student's sense of self and ultimately for them in 'Achieving Excellence'.

To ensure that our new Year 7s gained this experience on their first day at Fairhills High School, they were greeted by the Coordinator, Ms Meadows and their Home Group Teachers at the beginning of the day for a Year Level Assembly.  At this assembly, student timetables were distributed and students had the opportunity to ask questions on any concerns they were having. Upon completion of the assembly, students were met by the subject teacher and escorted to their classroom.  Year 7 teachers will continue to escort their students to and from each class until all students are comfortable and familiar with the school grounds.

Whilst our Year 7s were being welcomed into their new school, there was a 'Parent Meet & Greet Morning' hosted in the Staff room by our Wellbeing Team, Mr Paul Graham (SWC) & Mr Stewart MacCartney (Chaplain).

Our Facilities Manager, Mr Paul McLeish ensured that lockers were distributed within the first few days to our Year 7s as we understand what an important rite of passage it is for every high school student to have their own locker.  It was a joy to see the smile on every student's face when they opened their new combination lock for the first time and to hear the words 'YES I opened it!'

In a few weeks the Year 7s will be given information on all the extra-curricular programs that are available for them to take part in at Fairhills High School, including their Individualised Learning Program (ILP).

It has been an exciting start to the year and I am looking forward to working with all of you and watching our students flourish in the Fairhills High School community.
