Year 8D Camp

8D’s camp this year was a roaring success. After an uneventful drive, we stopped at Euroa for lunch, where we were able to enjoy the new war memorial and statues of Victoria Cross recipients, and reflect on their sacrifice. Once we settled in and unpacked, we all made our own pizzas, and after we cleaned up we went to Wombat Hill for a night walk. The students all walked up the hill, by themselves in the dark. For many it was a scary experience, but everyone went bravely up the hill alone and conquered their fear of the dark. That night several students were kept up by the strange noises made by Koalas, Wombats, birds and other, unknown animals.

The next day, we went to Nagambie for a chance to go canoeing on the lake, and we had a great time mucking about on the water. After lunch we went into town and went for a splash in the lake. On our last night we had a game of hide and seek at the camp, and after hot Milo several students crawled into bed, while a few brave ones stayed up watching a movie.

Finally we set off back home, and when we got back we were all pleased to see our families and couldn’t wait to tell them of our adventures. We all had a great time, many fears were overcome, there were plenty of first experiences and 8D were an excellent and happy group of students.
