Celebrating 2019

Presentation Ball

The end of the school year is such a lovely time to celebrate and acknowledge the growth and achievements of our students. On November 15th over 300 people attended the Year 11 Presentation Ball at the MCG. Watching the joy and sense of achievement on those students’ faces was an extremely rewarding experience for all the Concord staff who have worked with them at different times of their schooling. There were staff present who had worked with those students at the Watsonia Campus all those year ago and I took an extra special interest in the group having been their Team Leader last year. While the students had a fabulous time at the MCG, their day had started much earlier with a special ride with their classmates in a limousine to get them to the MCG. It was an absolutely fantastic night enjoyed by all in attendance. Many students have told me they would like to do it all again! Congratulations to all involved in the organisation of this wonderful event.

Lower Primary Showcase & Bushwahzee

At the other end of the school, the Lower Primary campus held their Showcase and pirate themed Bushwahzee last Tuesday night. Again this was a wonderful night watching the Lower Primary students perform with a big smile on their faces as their family members and guests enjoyed the performance. The students had worked hard with their teachers over a number of weeks to learn their dances and speaking parts and they relished getting up in their costumes to dance and sing as the audience clapped along. Earlier in the night parents and guests viewed the Lower Primary Showcase which had on display an amazing array of student artwork and learning from their classrooms and specialists classes. The students proudly found their pieces on display and posed for photos before enjoying a sausage or two. The evening was another wonderful night celebrating the hard work and achievements of our students on the Lower Primary campus.

Christmas Concert & Year 12 Graduation

We all have our fingers crossed that the weather will be kind to us and that we will have a lovely evening to enjoy our annual Christmas Concert on Monday night. We are looking forward to seeing the student performances along with visiting the Art display in the Discovery Centre and making a Christmas gift purchase or two and the market stalls in the Secondary 11/12 building. If, due to inclement weather, the Christmas Concert is cancelled this will be communicated via Compass and our Facebook page on Monday morning. In the event of cancellation, the performances will be held in the Gym at the Bundoora Campus on Tuesday morning. Next week we also have our Year 12 Graduation ceremony taking place on Thursday evening. This evening is also very special as we celebrate our Year 12s and wish them all the very best for life after Concord.

Supporting Literacy at home

Visit your local library, particularly the Diamond Valley or Eltham branches if they are close by to see Zalie Copeland’s art on display while reading and borrowing books that interest your child.

Supporting Mathematics at home

The countdown to the end of the school year is on! Use a calendar to keep track of the number of days remaining before the end of the school year.
