Year 10 Excursion to William Angliss

Nineteen students attended William Angliss Institute in Melbourne, on Tuesday 12th November, as part of their Food Studies course.

Students were taken on a guided tour of the Institute and informed of the various courses it offers: from Cooks to Chiefs, Bakers and Patisserie to Pastry Makers, from Flight Attendants to Hotel and Hospitality Managers. In addition, our students were further informed of the many opportunities the Institute offers young people in its vast list of short courses throughout the year, both here in Melbourne, New Zealand and overseas.

Following the tour, students dined in the restaurant. Here, they enjoyed a three course lunch selected from an a la carte menu, and learnt about table etiquette.  It was pleasing to see students tasting and experiencing ingredients that they may not be familiar with, and using the skills taught in class to evaluate the taste and flavours, textures, smells and presentation of their entrees, mains and desserts.

Overall, our students had enjoyable and memorable experience, and did us all proud.
