YEP class Remembrance Day visit

Remembrance Day planning began about two weeks before Remembrance Day. We had decided on poppy making, colouring pictures and bingo. We knew the elderly citizens would be keen on bingo and some company. We arrived at the elderly home at about 9am and got right to work.

Sean and Flynn lead us into the activities by giving a small speech and introducing the first of the activities. There were plenty of laughs and good conversation but eventually it was nearing 11am.

The YEP team gathered around the flagpole for a small speech to lead into the minute of silence. It was handled extremely well with full respect and was followed by a poem read by Kaley Roe. We finally got down to a friendly bingo competition and a beautiful lunch provided by Miss Ottone.

It was clear to see how valuable the experience was for the residents. They loved the company and of course the Y.E.P team was more than happy to be that company. In conclusion it was a major success and hopefully now a yearly tradition to help recognise and pay respects with the community of Remembrance Day.
