Kilvington on the Move
What a huge Semester One we have had. I am delighted with the way our students and community have embraced the first two terms of 2016. We successfully launched our Character Initiative, an important program that adds further value to a Kilvington education. Judging by the response to our first Gratitude Day – part of the Character Initiative – it has resonated strongly across our community.
Strategic Plan 2016-2020
We have finalised our Strategic Plan 2016 – 2020 which is now available to read on our website. As we continue to grow – in contrast to the independent sector’s flat growth rate - as a smaller co-ed independent school, there is much to look forward to in terms of the development of our curricular, cocurricular, pastoral, community and facility programs. All of which will benefit our students, staff and broader community.
On behalf of the Board and Executive, thank you to the parents who attended the Strategic Planning sessions held in 2015. Your input has been invaluable in defining Kilvington’s direction for the next five years.
Bumper Open Morning
Reinforcing our reputation as a quality education provider, we had a fantastic response to our May Open Morning. Even the dismal weather did not diminish our attendee’s enthusiasm. I was buoyed to receive this delightful note from a parent.
“My little girl was skipping throughout the tour with excitement saying, ‘This is the school for me mum’. She even drew a picture of Mr Charlton on her newly acquired school notepad.
Overall, we had an absolutely wonderful experience and I only wish I could enrol my children sooner but we’ll patiently wait.”
This sentiment is a common theme when parents describe our student ambassadors. I feel very proud and fortunate to have such respectful, friendly and well-spoken students represent our School.
Junior School Developments
We are excited to announce that the upgrade to Junior School amenities has commenced. The completed project will include the addition of new boys’ toilets and a complete upgrade to the girls’ toilets.
The ELC kichen/staff area will be renovated and plans are nearing completion to update The Green.
Our Global Partnerships
In the coming days, our Academic Dean of Languages, Lucie Dickens, and I hope to finalise the terms of our partnership with a school in Toulouse, France. This will add another important relationship to those we have in Indonesia, Japan and China. All in all, it is looking very bright for Kilvington.
I wish your families a restful and enjoyable holiday break together and look forward to seeing you back refreshed and raring to go in Term 3.
Staffing
French Teacher Mrs Louise Howlett finishes her contract with Kilvington this term. Louise has been a wonderful addition to the School over the past year and we wish her well.
Mr Matthew Allanby has been appointed to the role of French Teacher and will replace Mrs Howlett in a full-time capacity. Matthew will commence at Kilvington in Term 3, we look forward to welcoming him to the team.
Music Teacher Mrs Susan Searle has tendered her resignation after two years at Kilvington to pursue opportunities outside of the School. We wish Susan well in her future endeavours.
Congratulations to Y5F teacher, Elayne Flanagan, and husband Richie Beel who recently welcomed new baby boy Beau Valentine Beel into the world.
