Extend After School Care at Kilvington Grammar School

Recap
The weather has sadly caught up with us over the last two weeks, limiting us to many an afternoon inside, much to my delight! As a result, art and craft activities dominated our afternoons with the children showing off their creative side. Paper plate animals were the order of business one afternoon with almost every single animal you could think of being made, including some fabulous puppies, rabbits, penguins and even a giraffe!
Another day saw the children turn into superheroes by making some masks. Again, these were very impressive with Batman, Spiderman, Wonder Woman and many more looking out for us mere mortals, protecting us from those in the shadows!
Cooking was also a highlight over the past few weeks with many of us enjoying the delicious snacks we made. After promising for a few weeks to make some coconut macaroons, we finally got around to baking them. They were so scrumptious that we demolished them in no time at all. We then thought we would make something a bit healthier but just as delicious. We decided on cheerio bars with a few cheeky smarties in there for good measure. Again, these were devoured in no time!
When we finally got the opportunity to go outside, AFL was king. It was great to see everyone who participated sharing the ball with some great kicking and handballing on display. Some of us attempted to take a few ‘hangers’ but with a wet ball it was tough at times. Some of us also enjoyed setting up our own cafe in the cubby house serving some inspired SANDwiches! The hula hoop also was out and about with many of us using it for a variety of things including learning a few circus tricks!
As always, science made an appearance in the fixture with some ‘helicopters’ being made. We were very determined to see how long it could fly so we attempted to attach it to a football and kicked it high in the sky! Out of the 100 or so attempts, I think it was successful only once. To end this past week, we made our own ‘super bubble’ concoction. We added some water, detergent and golden syrup together to produce some incredible results!
Finally, from the team at ASC, we would like to wish everyone a safe and warm winter break! We cannot wait to see you all back here next term to hear about all the great adventures that everyone got up to!
