Opportunity to Host International Students

Kilvington is seeking expressions of interest to host international students who come to study at Kilvington. Kilvington international students requiring host families are typically in Years 9 to 12 and will study with us for a year or more.

Hosting involves welcoming a student into your home and caring for them as “one of your own” by providing them with all meals and helping them to adjust to daily life in Australia.

Hosting a student from another country can be a challenging but also rewarding experience. It can help your own children gain a fresh perspective on the aspects of their life they may take for granted while also learning about another culture.

Please contact Alan Clarke if you are interested in learning more about the responsibilities and benefits of hosting Kilvington international students.

Host families need to apply for a Volunteer Working With Children Check (free) for all household members who are over the age of 18. Additionally, an international student’s family will typically pay a host family in the range of $300-$350 a week to cover food, electricity and other expenses incurred by the host family. Hosting one or two international students is considered volunteer work by the Australian Taxation Office so this income is tax-free.

Kilvington Cares Food Bank

It is great to report that we have no families requiring support from the Kilvington Cares Food Bank. However, we are always looking for volunteers to call on when there is a need. If you would like to help support a family in need by cooking a meal or baking a cake, please contact Christina Welsford on 0412 568373 or email welsford.c@gmail.com if you would like to be added to the volunteer list.

Fiji Book Drive

So great to see our old library books being used in the Namara Primary School Library in Fiji as part of the Fiji Book Drive initiative held this year.
