Extend After School Care at Kilvington Grammar School

Our Recap

As always, it is great to be back at School and see all the wonderful kids! Hearing all the stories of the amazing adventures over the holidays that everybody got up to made me quite jealous!

However, not to be outdone by all the great things that people got up to, we had a pretty fantastic time here as well!

The two-week period was jam packed with fun activities. A few of the highlights included two great excursions. The first to Chesterfield Farm where the kids had the opportunity to run around the wide open spaces with the chickens that were on the loose! The kids also enjoyed a tractor ride, milking a cow, watch a sheep shearing show, pet the baby animals in the nursery and feed some bigger animals including a couple of camels! The second was the Jurassic World Exhibition at the Melbourne Museum. The dinosaurs were so life-like that a couple of us got a bit scared (myself included). But as we progressed through and saw all the different types we ended up having a wonderful time. To end the day, we had a look at a few of the exhibitions including the human body and mind, finishing with a trek through the rainforest exhibit!

More highlights included yoga and football incursions where we honed our football skills before the Grand Final.

The kids also explored chemical reactions in science making some great monster hands, some lifelike human bones and some ink prints.

Craft saw some very creative abstract portraits, scary haunted houses, football banners, dragons and masks to name just a few.

It wouldn’t be the holidays without there being a couple of PARTIES! We were all very excited for these and got dressed up in our footy gear or our scary Halloween outfits. We had our faces painted, had a great dance and played a couple of games as well!

The first week of term was the beginning of the Extend RED25 initiative. The kids were great in asking so many questions and exploring blood donation in all its forms. They learnt a lot in the science experiments including making blood and the different components within it. They also saw some great transportation vans, ran races to explore our pulse and, to finish off, made some yummy biscuits!
