Visiting Author

Stig Wemyss

On Monday 1st August, K-6 were very lucky to be visited by Stig Wemyss. Stig is an actor who has appeared in a number of TV shows including Col’n Carpenter, Round the Twist, Blue Heelers and Neighbours as well as feature films and live theatre productions. However, it was his role as an audiobook narrator that brought him to us and which excited the students more than his TV roles! Stig has narrated for authors such as Tim Winton, Paul Jennings, a number of the ‘Aussie Bites’ books as well as ALL of the Andy Griffiths books.

Stig kept the students enthralled and laughing for over an hour with his antics, audience participation and narration of one of Andy Griffiths books. He also spoke to the students about the Bolinda audio books available at our town library and focussed on how reading and literature through

the benefits of audiobooks, are as much fun as they are educational.

As part of their 60th birthday celebrations, Big Sky Libraries organised Stig’s tour and we would like to thank them for including St Philomena’s in his tour.
