Japan Tour 2016

Preparations are well underway for the 2016 Japan Tour…………only 46 days to go!

This term the three students of the Year 10 Elective Japanese class, accompanied by Mrs O’Neill and Mrs Lovett, will be travelling to Japan to put their language skills into practice and learn more about the Japanese culture.

Our trip will begin in Tokyo where we will experience the real pace of city life. Our first day will be spent at Tokyo Disneyland. On day three we will be visiting two well- known suburbs, Shibuya and Asakusa, before we travel on the bullet train from Tokyo to Osaka. We will be based in Osaka for three nights. From Osaka we will travel to Hiroshima to go to the Peace Park, Peace Museum and maybe listen to a talk from an atomic bomb survivor. We will also be delivering 1000 paper cranes that our students, from primary and secondary, have worked hard to make. We will find a special spot in the Peace Park near Sadako’s Statue for these. A day in Kyoto will see us visiting some of the beautiful shrines and temples and maybe even meeting a Geisha/Maiko. We will then continue our journey, once again in luxury, on the bullet train to Urashima to experience the onsen (Japan's hot springs) and take in the magnificent views. We finish up back in Tokyo to be a part of the fast pace and crowds. Our bright green tour hats, very kindly donated to us by the MAAC, will certainly help us stand out in these crowds so we do not lose each other.

The trip will be for eight days and I am sure it will be a lifetime experience for all involved.

PAPER CRANES

If anyone has made any paper cranes could you please bring them in for Mrs O’Neill so she can start threading them. If you would like to be a part of the competition, each time you bring them in, please put them in a bag, with your name on it and the number of cranes in the bag.

The paper crane making completion will finish at the end of Week 4.

Art Competition

Olivia Mihill (Year 6) and her family attended the official opening and prize giving ceremony at NERAM in Armidale. Although Olivia did not win a prize she received a finalist certificate. This is a great achievement for Olivia and what a excellent experience to be exhibited at such a young age. Well done.

School Talent Show

Please be advised that the school talent show is just around the corner. It's time to start thinking and practising your acts for the upcoming auditions.  The final performance will be Thursday 8th September 2016. More information to come.
