Science @ MSC

For students who enjoy Science and/or would like to explore the possibilities in studying Science, there is an excellent opportunity in the In2Science eMentoring Program.

This is a 10 week program that involves students at Maffra SC regularly connecting (via a video conference link) with a University student studying Science. The program has been running at Maffra SC for a number of years, and many students have benefitted by gaining insights into what studying science at university is like; by discussing their schoolwork; by learning study tips and by improving oral communication skills.

Expressions of interest are being sought from students who would like to participate in the program in Semester 1 for 2020. Please contact Kristen Raine or email raine.kristen.j@edumail.vic.gov.au

Deakin Roadshow

Year 8 students were fortunate to have a day of engineering challenges run by engineering students from Deakin University (including one of our ex-students, Abbey Grey). Students experienced using robots to perform simple tasks, designing a structure to withstand earthquakes (the shake table), designing wind turbines to generate electricity and designing bridges using simple materials.
