Year 10 News

So the year is coming to an end and you will all be moving on to VCE, VCAL or out into the real working world. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff, students and parents for contributing to such a fantastic year for our year 10 students. On a personal not it has been a great year and I want you to know that I have enjoyed every moment of being the leader of the Year 10 students throughout 2019. We have achieved so much including, but not limited to: Tasmania camp, celebration night, work experience, Kokoda trip, Beacon, University open days and so much more. You all have kept me busy, and it's been great fun getting to know all of you individually and as a Year 10 group. I hope you feel the same and that you will take what you have learned this year and build on it as you continue your studies.

I would like to just highlight some improvements in our 2019 Year 10 students. Our Attitude to School data was above the state, like schools and schools in our network in 19 of the 20 area.  Year 10 positive behaviour acknowledgments have increased by over 50% this year to 3264 and major negative behaviour across the year has decrease by over 60%. This is a credit to our students and the positive choices they have made throughout the year. Well done and take the positives into 2020.

I would also like to thank the Year 10 team for their hard work throughout the year. Sue Clancy and Kim Gardener, Caroline Fletcher, Marita Fry, Marita Robson, Matt Clark, David Price, Michael Sonka, Greg Gilbert, Jess Anderson, Helen Watts and a big thankyou to our Year 10 Admin Assistant Megan Lemon. All of these staff members throughout the year have gone above and beyond for the Year 10 students and as the leader I cannot thank them enough for the effort and adaptability to new challenges.

Lastly I would like to thank all the parents and carers of our year 10 students, your support was extremely evident in every phone call, meeting, or catch up.

To everyone, I wish a safe and happy holidays. To all the students good luck with 2020 each one of you has a bright future ahead of you. Work hard and success will come.

Year 10 Celebration Night

After lots of hard work all year, students in Year ten were able to celebrate their success at our celebration night at the Maffra Football Clubrooms.

Students were able to accumulate many points throught the year by meeting the goals they set each term.

Students earnt points for each green posi slip they received from their teachers throughout the year. In addition they also earnt points for attendance and for having very few yellow minor incident points and very few red major incidents points. Another way they earnt points was through having positive progress reports throughout the year.

Each point they earnt led to money being allocated towards their end of year celebration. The more points the more money.

All this hard work became worthwhile once the celebrations started.

Over sixty Year ten students attended the celebration where they got to dress up and dance the night away to music supplied by Tia Hone.

Sale Greyhound provide a photo-booth for students to take photos of themselves and their friends.  This proved to be very popular as did the delicious supper.  The whole night was a huge success.
