MSC School Council 2019

The November school council meeting was held on Tuesday the 19 th November in the school staffroom at 5:30 pm. Being the last real business meeting for the school year, the agenda was reasonably full. Subcommittees presenting reports included Finance (two months worth), Curriculum, Environment, Parent Club and the Student Leadership.

Also addressed were:

  • The State Government mobile phone policy for the 2020 school year.
  • Ratification of the updated ‘Bullying & Harassment Prevention Policy’, and the ‘Student Wellbeing, Welfare & Engagement Policy’.
  • Strategic Plan and the Annual Implementation Plan for 2020.
  • Camp and excursion approvals for the next month.
  • Longer term building improvements and repairs.

A further discussion was held around decision-making at school council, and the collaborative process that is available to all students, parents and staff of the college community. For instance, do members of the college community know that anyone is entitled to attend school council meetings, and speak to issues that are being discussed and decided? School council endeavours to be more pro-active in communicating these processes and opportunities throughout the meeting calendar.

In the meantime, if there are any questions or suggestions regarding governance or strategic direction of the college, please feel free to contact any school councillor. A full list of school council members was published in the October College Newsletter. Contact information can be sought through the office of the college.
