Monash Youth Music Festival

The Monash Youth Music Festival returned to the PAC this year after a couple of years in the orchestral room whilst the new PAC was under construction.  The weather was glorious and sunny, and the P&F teamed up with the Year 9 baristas and coffee cart to cater for the hundreds of students and parents that passed through over the course of Saturday, August 17.

The P&F sausage sizzle and sweet treats were well-received by participants and volunteers alike and we raised a profit of $524.00 (including $115.00 from the coffee cart).  These funds will be well-applied to initiatives around the school.

The P&F would like to thank Sandra Tiepermann and the Year 9 baristas for their organisation of the coffee cart as well as the team of P&F parent and student volunteers who helped make the day a great success.

Huntingtower Musical Suppers

This year saw the return of the HT musical and hosting of the HT Musical Suppers during intermission.  The P&F oversaw a well-oiled machine in the MYC, which brought in the crowd from the audience for a flash-mob 20 minute service of refreshments during intermissions.  There were 4 sessions – one for each of the performances – and our devoted P&F members served up tea, coffee and sweet treats for the HT families and friends who came to watch the amazing production of Godspell.  We collected a profit over the 4 sessions of $666.06

Thank you to the P&F committee members who helped out during the hectic service sessions. Thanks also to Kelly and Joe who looked after the purchasing of the delicious sweets and to HT staff who facilitated the P&F’s set up in the MYC.  Truly a team effort!

STEM Centre

The P&F are fortunate to be involved as a sponsor of the brand-new STEM Centre in the HT grounds.  A couple of months ago, P&F members were offered the opportunity of a walk-through with Greg Hellard and Rob Kitchingman.  They explained how the centre was progressing and their vision for the centre's use, which already incorporates a broad range of technologies.  We discussed the potential for ongoing P&F involvement and earmarked a project for the $10,000 allocated from the 2018 fete profits.  After considering a number of options, the P&F resolved to sponsor the STEM Centre Aquarium and Chicken Enclosure, which has now been completed.  We will be holding our quarterly P&F meeting in the STEM Centre where we will be able to see first-hand the great use that has been made of our contributions.  Thanks to Greg and Rob for their vision and allowing the P&F to be a partner in this important project.

Trivia Night

Our 2019 HT Trivia Night continues to take shape.  Please help make this night a runaway success and book your seats now – the night is being hosted in the MYC and we would love a full house of staff, parents and friends.  Bookings are open now on TryBooking and more details are available via your class representative. Mark your calendar!  The Trivia Night is standing in for the HT Fete - which is now to be held every second year – so this will be our flagship event for 2019.  We hope you can be part of it.

Fruit Cakes

HT parent Georgia and her team have been busy baking fruit cakes since the P&F relaunched the Christmas Cake initiative in 2019.  The HT community has already experienced the opportunity to sample Georgia’s wares at the 2018 HT Fete.  Over the next few months you can order her magnificent cakes in time for Christmas celebrations or to enjoy simply in their own right.  You will find the Christmas Cake order forms on the HT parent portal.  This is a great way to support the P&F and our fundraising and there's plenty of time left to order.  Thanks to Georgia for her tireless work in lovingly preparing these cakes for our community.
