Singing their song...
On Monday afternoon of the mid-term break, the Senior Chamber Choir were hard at work rehearsing for the Secondary Choir section of the Monash Youth Music Festival. The event was held in the evening in the glorious acoustics of the Robert Blackwood Hall. The standard of choirs was phenomenal – the adjudicator commented that she was sent to heaven (with the beautiful singing) and to hell (trying to make a decision)! The HT kids were amazing – they sang their incredibly complex works beautifully and behaved impeccably as always. Unfortunately there were no prizes this year (the first time in over 10 years!), but the kids had such a fun night. It ended with an impromptu flash mob-style massed singing of Bohemian Rhapsody that one of the choirs started and everyone joined in for! It was the perfect example of the power of music, bringing all of us together as one community 😊.
Thursday evening next week (29 August) is the Kodaly Secondary Choral Festival held at Scotch College. This will be another opportunity to perform among some of the top school and youth choirs in Melbourne – this time with no awards but with an exciting rehearsed Massed Singing performance of around 400 choristers!
