Lost Property
There are lots of school windcheaters piling up in our lost property box. Parents are welcome to come in and take home windcheaters that are unnamed. Please check that your child’s school jumpers and hats are clearly named.
After-school Playground Use

Families are reminded that students and other children are not to play on the playground after school. Even if parents are present, no child is to play on the playground. The teacher on duty will be monitoring students leaving the college safely. They are not able to watch students on the playground.
Athletics Carnival

Our Primary Athletics Carnival will be held at the Aero Ovals, Mildura on Monday 22nd July.
Students will be travelling by bus to the Ovals, leaving the school at 9.15am and returning at 2.30pm. Events will start at 9.30am.
Students are encouraged to come dressed in their Sport House colours.
They will need to bring a hat, jumper, snack, drink bottle and lunch (if they have not ordered
Sausages).
Families are welcome to come along and support the competitors. The Ziggy’s coffee van will be at the oval on the day for parents. It is forecast a lovely 21 degrees. Looking forward to a great day.

Swimming Program

Permission Notes with information about the Swimming Program will be sent home this week. Please complete the notes and return them to school with payment as soon as possible.
Swimming Program is as follows:
Year 4-6 - Monday 5th – Friday 9th August
Year P-1 - Monday 12th – Friday 16th August
Year 2-3 - Monday 19th – Friday 23rd August Students will need to bring bathers, goggles and thongs in a plastic bag to school.
Families are required to pay $20 per child to cover the bus travel to and from the Waves for the week. The Excursion Levy covers the cost of the swimming lessons.
If you have not paid the Excursion Levy the cost of Swimming will be $50. Although this may seem to be a large amount to pay, regular swimming lessons after school hours can be up to $15 per session.
Swimming is an important lifesaving skill to have as well as part of the curriculum. If you need to discuss payment methods, please feel free to chat to Heather in the Green Building Office.

If you have any of the following items, the Year P-6 Art department would love them.
*Small boxes
*Cardboard rolls - glad wrap, foil and paper towel rolls (no toilet rolls)
*Material scraps/ribbon/lace
*Any type of lids
*Shoe boxes
*Shoes - canvas sand shoes, court shoes, leather or vinyl lace ups or boots
*Old DVDs and CDs
Items can be left in the boxes or containers near Heather's desk in the Green Building Office.
Outside School Hours Care (OSHC)

Primary Uniform Jacket
J. Hunyadi
Primary students are able to purchase a polar fleece lined Jacket with a water repellent microfibre outer shell. It has elastic cuffs and an internal zip pocket. It is available in size 4 – 16 and has the school logo embroidered on it. Cost is $40.00 per jacket.
Year 3 News
S. Gardiner
The Year 3 students have begun their 'Night and Day' science unit. Today they investigated the shape and size of both the moon and sun talking about how they looked about the same size in the sky. They were amazed to realize that the sun is much farther away from the Earth than the moon. Thanks to the Year 8 Enrichment Science students, our Year 3 students were able to view what each of the phases of the moon look like.
Year 4-6 News

The Year 4-6 students have begun begun their Measurement Unit in style this term! Over the last few days they have been exploring the ‘Moa Mystery’. They were given a skeleton and the length on just one bone and had to work out the height of the Moa. They then took their work outside and had to draw a life sized Moa in chalk to scale.
Library News
Please ensure your child returns their books each week and brings a waterproof Library Bag for their Library books on the following days.

Merbein Community Bank School Student Banking Program
If you wish your child to participate in this program, please send your child’s bankbook along to the Green Building Office every Thursday morning. The Bank will collect and process your child’s banking and then drop the bank book back to school before the end of the school day.
