Parents Leading the Way!

It’s well known that children need support to help develop the habit and love for reading.

Last term, Years 4, 5 and 6 kick-started the Book Chat Literature Enrichment Program in fine form, with our Year 4s exceeding their first-time expectations. The Resource Centre was a-buzz with chatter, and it was inspirational to see our parents lead the way. There were 32 groups overall and many lively discussions shared.

Here are what a few of our new Year 4 Book Chat parents had to say.

Thank you for the opportunity of being one of the facilitators for the Book Club. I really, really enjoyed it and it was the most delightful experience.

It was brilliant to see the children’s faces light up as they shared their thoughts and insights.

I was really impressed with how insightful the children were, the level of emotional maturity they showed and the level of respect they demonstrated for one another. There was a real sense of comfort and friendship amongst the group members and the trust they have for one another shows through in their willingness to share their ideas. It was a lovely, lovely class to be a part of and I’m certainly looking forward to the next one.

We look forward to students expanding their love and interest in books with more parents leading the way!
