ICT News!

Recently we have completed and Improved our Wi-Fi Connectivity: To ensure seamless connectivity throughout the school, we have upgraded our Wi-Fi infrastructure. Students can now enjoy faster and more reliable internet access in classrooms, common areas, and even outdoor spaces. This upgrade will support online research, collaboration, and other digital activities.

Digital Citizenship and Internet Safety: We continue to promote positive digital citizenship and ensure a safe online environment for everyone. Please continue to support your child and discuss digital awareness such as online privacy, cyberbullying prevention, and responsible internet usage.

We encourage all students, teachers, and families to actively participate in these conversations and stay informed about these important matters. I have included a link to an article I was reading in regards to how to keep your child safe at home whilst on the internet or using technology. https://theconversation.com/tips-for-parents-on-keeping-kids-safe-online-188086

If you have any questions or suggestions related to ICT at our school, please feel free to reach out! We value your feedback and ideas.

Stay connected, stay engaged, and embrace the exciting possibilities of technology!

Occupational Health and Safety

Keeping our staff, students and visitors safe is our number one priority. As we continue to head towards the colder months of the year please be aware of any slips, trips or falls you may notice on the school grounds. Please be mindful of the Back Gate area exiting the school as it can be very slippery because of the changes in surfaces and the location of the steel grate. Also be aware of any trees or low lying branches that you may come across too.

If you see any areas in the school that you are concerned about please do not hesitate to contact me via email.

Physical Education / School Sports!

Grade 5B and both year 6 classes are now well and truly into the Winter Interschool Sports Season. Soccer, Euro Handball, Touch Rugby and Netball all form part of the Winter Interschool Sport Season.

Currently the Touch Rugby Team are in the lead sitting on top of the ladder undefeated alongside the Girls Soccer. Go SoGS!

Our Year 5 and 6 students returned from another successful camp held at YMCA Lake Dewar, Myrniong. Each student created a variety of memories on the many activities that were part of the specialised program they offer. The students participated in Canoeing, Flying Fox, GeoCaching, Camp Cooking, Hut Building and finished the camp on the last day with an Amazing Race where groups of students had to work together as a team. An amazing experience that creates lifelong memories and friendships!

Congratulations to 5 of our students (Luke, Sofia, Sally Rose, Jaeda and Peter)  who represented the Broadmeadows District on Tuesday 30th May at the Kilmore Racing Club in Cross Country. It was a cold and chilly day and each student competed to the best of their abilities. Sofia, Sally Rose, Jaeda and Peter all finished in respectable places out of the 50 students who competed in their races but Luke in Year 5 will be going on to the Northern Metro Region Finals to be held at Kilmore again on Wednesday 14th June.

We wish him all the best and well done to all competitors!
