All students attending St Louis de Montfort's Aspendale have the right to feel safe. The care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people is a fundamental responsibility of all within our school.

What a wonderful morning we had on Thursday, celebrating god's gifts of mothers, grandmothers and special people who mother. The hall was bursting at the seams with mothers/grandmothers enjoying breakfast with their precious children. Breakfast was supplied by our wonderful PFA and served by an amazing army of dads. The atmosphere was truly electric. The guests were also treated to a fabulous performance from our school choir most abley led by Tanya Jhoomun.

I was a little concerned thinking 'how on earth are we going to have the hall ready for mass by 9.15am? but sure enough, all our wonderful helpers wiped tables, cleared rubbish, packed away the tables, swept the floors and re-set the chairs all by 9am!

Teamwork is the Dreamwork!!! Many thanks to all those amazing helpers

With joyful love and gratitude, our whole school gathered  to celebrate Mother’s Day with a special mass. We celebrated God’s treasured gifts to us; our mums, grandmothers and special women in our lives who care for us and love us.  They show us God’s unconditional, tender love. At mass we honoured all mothers, those who were present, those who were not with us , and those who have died and are with God. Through the love they show, the way they nurture and care for us, mothers help us to understand what God is like. On Mother's Day, we especially remember Mary, Mother of Jesus. We pray to her to keep our families safe and we ask God to pour out His blessings upon them.

Year 6ET created a beautiful Mary altar to honour her on Mother's Day and in the month of May. The year 1's were delightful whilst singing  John Enever's song 'Mum, I love you everyday' as were our talented Yr 6 singers Tahlia.C, Chloe.D, Carys.G and Sienna.P, assisted by the beautiful voice of our very versatile principal, Mrs Carmel Stutterd.

Many thanks to the many people who contributed towards making our Mother's Day Mass very special, particularly Father Andrew, our Liturgy and Social Justice team who always read beautifully, our Year 3 readers, our SRC reps who handed out flowers, classes who created the beautiful artwork, Hugh.I and Hugo.N who competently organised all the AV equipment, and especially all our wonderful mums, grandmas and special friends who came to pray with us.

Let us pray:

Loving God, you are always with us, holding us in your loving embrace. We place our mothers in your tender care and ask you to help us to support them when they are weary, to show them compassion and kindness when they need it, and to show them constant love and gratitude.

Just a reminder that next Saturday 20th May St Louis' Parish is holding the K's for Caritas Fun Run. Everyone is welcome to participate. We hope to see you there!
