CURRICULUM FOCUS
We are learning to use partitioning to solve subtraction problems.
VOCABULARY
Partitioning: dividing into parts (tens and ones to subtract from one another).
ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING
Use a dice, pack of cards or brainstorm two numbers that you can subtract using the partitioning strategy.
Don’t forget that when we partition, we break apart each number into each place value, subtract them separately in their place value and then add both answers together.
There is an example in the vocabulary of section how to use this strategy if you need it.
