Principal's Report
By Carolyn Serpell
This week has been unlike any we have experienced before! With so many of our staff away sick this week, we are deeply grateful to everyone who has stepped in to help out. I would particularly like to thank Tony, Roger, Marty, Lucy, Andrew, Megan and Armo from Outdoor School Bogong, along with Belinda (MBSC) for their support in helping to cover our classes this week. An enormous thank you also to our own staff for their flexibility in splitting and combining classes as needed and continuing to provide learning programs from their sick beds, to ensure student learning could be maintained with as little disruption as possible.
With ever increasing numbers of students presenting with COVID like symptoms, families are urged to please keep your child at home if they are unwell and to test for COVID if they are showing any symptoms.
Please note that due to the current situation, our Friday morning assembly has been cancelled for this week.
A reminder also that this coming Monday, 5th June, is a pupil free day/Report Writing Day.
OSHC will be running for families who require access to this service. Please submit bookings online. (please see the OSHC page of this newsletter)
Last Wednesday, students in Year 5/6 embarked on their trip to Canberra for a three day camp. A busy first day included a visit to Reconciliation Place, the AIS and some evening Laser Tag. Thursday the students have spent the day exploring Parliament House, the Australian War Memorial and Questacon, The Dinosaur Museum, and Embassy Drive. Before heading home on Friday they stopped by the National Electoral Education Centre, and enjoyed a lunch break at The
National Arboretum "The Pod Playground.
Many thanks again to Dave, Steph, Michelle, Joy, Juliette, Michelle and Andy for providing our students with this great experience.
While some mid-year Parent Teacher interviews were held this week, many had to be post-poned until later in the term. Thank you to everyone for their flexibility with this. If you would like to make a booking for a meeting, please contact your child's teacher or the office.
This week, some of our students had the opportunity to participate in another Rocketry Design and Technology challenge. Having learned the qualities of what makes a great rocket, we witnessed some spectacular launches. Congratulations to those students who challenged themselves and were also prepared to take a risk in their designs!
Tomorrow, a number of our students will travel to Wodonga for the Upper Hume Cross Country event. Good luck to all students and many thanks to families for their support with transport and supervision on the day.
