School Report

Virtual Tour

On behalf of Launching Place Primary School Staff, students and Community we would like to give a very big thank you to Ms Tracy Wright for looking after our school. Our school really appreciates all you have done this term and are grateful that you put your own school on hold to launch yourself into the Principal role at LPPS.

Ms Wright has seamlessly integrated into our school Community with her friendly and approachable nature. We are grateful for the support and leadership throughout this challenging and difficult time and we wish Ms Wright all the best in the future.

Wattleview PS are extremely fortunate to have your return. Best wishes and Thank you.

Term Four

As no doubt you would be already aware  News reports indicate Dan Andrews will be making an announcement on Sunday regarding term 4 school arrangements. If the decision is made on Sunday that remote learning will continue for Term Four, hard copy packs for week one, Term Four, will be available for collection from 9.00am, Monday 4th October.

Here's hoping that all students will be given the green light to return day one of next term. Along with you, our fingers are crossed too! Regardless of the decision, Please hold onto your child's completed work for this week and return on the first day back of Term Four.

 NAPLAN RESULTS

Naplan results have been posted out to parents.

Whilst the results of this year’s NAPLAN testing may be one of the furthest things from your minds right now in lockdown, it was positive to hear that Victoria topped the nation with our Grade 3s and 5s achieving better results than all other states and territories in most areas.

These results confirms the amazing work our children, parents and teachers have been doing and indicates that children are continuing to learn and develop despite remote learning.    Parents  & Teachers in Victoria have also continued to show the kind of care and dedication needed to make remote learning work. It’s not perfect but it does help to maintain learning continuity.

I would remind all families interpreting these results to consider the positives of your child’s achievements first and foremost. Education has no doubt been disrupted by COVID19. Furthermore, NAPLAN is Australia’s only standardised testing, and given it only happens every two years for each child from Years 3 – 9, it is a snapshot in time.

For the Holidays

We thank our parents and carers for your continual support during this difficult time.

We want to acknowledge the resilience and ongoing approach that our children and families are showing -  please continue to reach out to the staff at Launch if there is any support that we can provide.  It is now time to relax and take a well deserved break from remote learning, you all deserve it.

It’s been a long and challenging time.  We know that some days have not been great, but we encourage you to celebrate some good things that have come from this time.  It might be that you have had more outdoor time together, your family might have learnt a new game, you might have some new family favourite recipes, and everyone needs to be congratulated for getting through.  We don’t know what next term will bring so stay positive and enjoy the break from remote learning in the next two weeks.  Most of all congratulations to our students for their perseverance, determination and their work in remaining positive and committed to their learning. School officially finishes at 2.30pm tomorrow.

 Borrowed Spare Clothing

If your child has come home in spare clothing supplied by the School.  Please wash and return these items as soon as possible. As you might imagine in these wetter days we can go through our limited supply very quickly!  A spare set of clothing in school bags would be greatly appreciated ‘just in case’.  It’s not just the younger students that might need a change after the breaks.

Baby News

As Emily Rae Taylor goes on Maternity leave we would like to wish Emily and Joel all the very best and look forward to hearing the exciting news of their new arrival to their family.

Hats

As September is a month where all students and staff either at home outside or at school must use a combination of sun protection (hats, sunscreen, protective clothing) in all outdoor activities during recess, lunchtimes, sport and other outdoor activities.

Lost Property

Just a reminder to ensure all items are clearly named so that if lost can be reunited with students.  If you have received a pre loved item please make sure the name is updated.

We also ask please that you check your child’s uniform from time to time to ensure they haven’t brought home someone else’s clothing by mistake in the excitement of the day.
