Principal's Message

Liam Buckley

Dear Families

Thank you for the way in which you are supporting the learning at home. We cannot wait to have a school full of children and are hopeful that it will be that way for Term 4 at least.

Unfortunately, our Year 5/6 students will not be able to go on camp next week for obvious reasons but we will be trying our very best to replace the camp experience during Term 4. We'll keep you up to speed with any developments should the situation change in coming days.

We will be welcoming a new student into Foundation this week and we welcome Kai to St Joseph's. We also have a family who will be joining us in Term 4 in Year 2 (Luca) and Year 4 (Ciara). We can't wait to welcome everyone properly when we can.

I hope those of you who were able to attend our Martial Arts session and the Yoga session enjoyed them and we have the same again this week. We are hoping to add more value to remote learning and also supporting community groups such and Andrew and Vic (karate and Yoga). Thanks again to Miss Wood for her very popular cooking classes and they are very well attended.

Father's Day Drawing Competition

We've joined up with Mantecado cafe in Black Rock Village to give an opportunity for our children to earn a free coffee for their fathers or special adults by drawing a picture of their dad and tagging @mantecado.au and @stjosephsblackrock on social media (Facebook and/or Instagram). Mantecado will reward the finest drawings with a free breakfast for dad on Father's Day.

Wellbeing Yoga for Parents

It was great to see so many parents and their children embracing the well-being yoga session with Vic on Wednesday. She will again be online from 2:30pm, providing parents with a welcome opportunity to focus on mindfulness while testing the hamstrings and core. Please be aware that this is primarily for parents, but if your children want to join you, they are absolutely welcome. The link will once again come to you through Operoo.

Tasty Treat in the Letter Box

In the next day or so you should receive an envelope with a tasty treat from the staff, school captains and our buddies at Davey Macs, who have kindly given each child a voucher for a scoop of icecream to help them through remote learning. We know this is a testing time for everyone and as the weeks go on, it doesn't get any easier. So enjoy a treat on us and Davey Macs (once they reopen later this week).

PSGs

These meetings are going ahead via Google Meets and will continue on Wednesday this week. Thank you for being flexible with your times.

Martial Arts Club Before School

Our friends at All Star Martial Arts are again offering an online session on Wednesday 1st September for our students to burn some energy during their remote learning day. The link and details will be sent via Operoo.

First Holy Communion

We will keep everyone up to date with the rescheduling once we have more information from Father David.

Fruit & Veg Boxes

How good were the Amalocal fruit & veg boxes?!!  Thank you to everyone for supporting this great little fundraiser. We actually made $855 profit from the initiative.

Don is certainly keen to do a repeat fundraiser with us. We thought it might be good to do it with the summer fruits and veg, so possibly November.

The hard working members of the P & F are currently arranging a similar initiative with Black Rock Cellars and details of a wine fundraiser will be forthcoming. Thank you to Trish and friends for the organisation and support. It was lovely to see our community clicking and collecting!

P&F

We’ve been allocated a date for Bunning’s Sausage Sizzle on Sunday 17th October. More to follow ... save the date.

Dates.

School events are becoming a moveable feast at the moment so all dates remain flexible in the hope of being able to come back together as a community.
