Apple Sponge Recipe

Ingredients:

770g tin of Pie Apples

¼ cup white sugar

¼ cup caster sugar

¼ cup shortening (butter or marg)

1 cup Self Raising Flour

1 egg

5 tablespoons of milk

  1. Place apples and white sugar in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave till warm. Place in a greased casserole dish. Keep warm.
  2. Cream shortening and sugar, add egg. Mix to combine.
  3. Add sifted flour and milk alternately. Mix to combine.
  4. Pour cake mixture over warm apples.
  5. Bake in a moderate oven for 30-45 minutes.
  6. Serve with ice cream or custard, or even both.

Notes:

Other fruits can be used besides apples.
