Apple Sponge Recipe
Ingredients:
770g tin of Pie Apples
¼ cup white sugar
¼ cup caster sugar
¼ cup shortening (butter or marg)
1 cup Self Raising Flour
1 egg
5 tablespoons of milk
- Place apples and white sugar in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave till warm. Place in a greased casserole dish. Keep warm.
- Cream shortening and sugar, add egg. Mix to combine.
- Add sifted flour and milk alternately. Mix to combine.
- Pour cake mixture over warm apples.
- Bake in a moderate oven for 30-45 minutes.
- Serve with ice cream or custard, or even both.
Notes:
Other fruits can be used besides apples.
