NEW - Foundation

Foundation have been going on adventures with their flat teachers that turned up in the mail.

They wrote about what they have been up to and have had lots of fun.

NEW - Year 1s

The Grade Ones began the last 2 weeks of learning with celebrating Father’s Day. The children created and made some excellent gifts for the special males in their lives. We showcased their wonderful work on SeeSaw.

For literacy students began learning about how to identify and follow the parts of a procedure. They have been writing some excellent examples. It has been lots of fun sharing recipes and craft procedures with the children. They are quite the bakers in the kitchen. Miss Simposn’s lemonade scones were a hit!!

For numeracy students have been focused on place value and grouping numbers into tens and ones. Chance has also been a favourite activity amongst the children, choosing when an event/activity is impossible or possible.

For Religious Education we have been learning about the importance of prayer and what it looks like. Students wrote some very thoughtful prayers of gratitude to God.

R U OK day was last Thursday and students identified ways that they can be a good friend.

We hope all our students and families have a lovely holiday break and we will hopefully see you back for the start of Term 4.

NEW - Year 2s

Thank you and well done to all Grade 2 students, families and friends for another productive week!

We are continually impressed with your Resilience and Responsibility as we navigate through what we hope is the last of Remote Learning.

In our Reading and Writing we have been focusing on a new topic of Writing To Socialise. Students have looked at a variety of letters and emails, they identified the common text structure and text features. Students composed and wrote emails to their teacher, letters of apology to the Three Bears from Goldilocks, invitations and announcements.

They also enjoyed writing formal and informal messages using abbreviations and text speak language.

They were gr8!

In Maths we did a Treasure Map project based around Location and Transformation. Students designed a treasure map, made a key, drew a compass, buried their treasure and then wrote directions using the Compass points to find their treasure. The treasure maps as you can see below were fantastic!

We continued our theme of Personal Histories for Humanities and looked at different ways we celebrate in different families. For Religion students continued to look at the ways they pray and wrote their own prayers, designed a prayer space and recorded themselves saying a prayer.

We were blessed to hear and see some beautiful prayers.

On behalf of the Grade 2 team we would like to say a huge thank you and well done to all Grade 2 students, families and friends. We hope you have a relaxing school holiday and we look forward to seeing everyone back soon.

Kind regards,

Andrew, Katy and Wendy

NEW - Years 3/4

In Grade 3/4 we have been doing lots of work on identifying the different parts of a sentence and up levelling our work. This week we are starting to look at procedures and we are so excited to do some science experiments in our Google Meets. In Maths, we have been learning about money and representing it in different ways and also comparing decimals. It has been so great to be with some other students and different teachers on a Thursday.

Last week, Mrs Nihill organised an ASPA virtual visit and we loved it. Last week we got to wear yellow for R U OK? day and made an effort to fill the buckets of the people around us. We are all looking forward to our Footy Colours day on Friday!

Poem - Forest

By Jacob Christopher

I grew so tall, I touched the sky

Just to see everything bone-dry

The red flames way in the distance

Definitely made me think of preexistent

The heat hitting wasn't fun

I felt like I was half-done

Smoke in the air

Not afraid to scare

Animals hurrying to their dens

Then it hit me, the burning cleanse

Struggling to live, like everyone else

Feeling like a broken belt

Wanting to thrive, I needed to survive

Resilience is key, to trying not to be a ash tree

Then people came, with there hose

Spreading water upon my nose

Now I live, to see another day

Breathing air on this Gorgeous day.

COVID 19’s just around the corner my nans goin west I might have to warn her

Don’t worry just stay strong

Oh great we’re in home learning again

Look on the  bright side you can eat more tukker

Don’t worry just stay strong

My birthday’s tomorrow I just can’t wait

I just wish I could see my mate’s but

Don’t worry just stay safe

My sister’s birthday is on the 11th

Don’t worry just stay strong
